To celebrate Blue Peter’s 65th anniversary, we were tasked with creating a fresh, modern title sequence that felt like a visual step up from previous iterations, while staying true to the spirit of the iconic show and the 3D logotype we’d designed a year earlier. The titles needed to be dynamic, easily updatable, and part of a wider templated graphics system that included badge-specific frames, wipes, and lower thirds—all ready in time for a major live broadcast.
THE CHALLENGE
The sequence opens with a letter (just like every Blue Peter badge application) before soaring into a swirl of multicoloured strokes that carve out dynamic badge-shaped frames, giving each episode space to showcase unique content. The animation builds to a satisfying pin-in of the 3D badge logotype.
We designed bespoke frames for the show’s many badges, including Blue, Silver, Gold, Green, Sports, Purple and Orange. Alongside this, we delivered a full graphics toolkit: lower thirds, wipes, and editable templates to ensure visual consistency and efficient turnaround across broadcast and digital platforms.
THE SOLUTION
The new titles debuted to enthusiastic feedback during the 65th anniversary show, striking the right balance between legacy and innovation. Editors can now update the episode titles and graphics quickly thanks to a flexible system designed for ease of use. The refreshed package unified the brand across all touchpoints, from TV to social media, and has been praised for its polish, playfulness, and production efficiency.
