Some new year wishes for the year ahead
Bye 2025, Hello 2026
2025 has come and gone, and what a year it’s been for us at Tracks and Layers! Thank you to all our fantastic friends, collaborators, and clients for working with us across the year. Here’s hoping that 2026 brings more great partnerships and fun creative projects!
We hope everyone has had a great time over the festive period, and enjoyed a wonderful Christmas and a sparkling New Year’s Eve (or, if it’s more your thing, a nice peaceful one!).
Here’s a bit about what each of the team have been up to over the break, and of course, some classic New Year’s Resolutions!
Mike
What’s the festive break been like for you?
“Christmas has been all about getting plenty of well-earned family time, building Lego with the kids and seeing extended family. Plus eating and drinking lots, of course! Getting away a little between Christmas and New Year for a short break. Oh, and attempting to force my wife to watch the Lord of the Rings Extended Editions again…”
Goals for 2026:
- Read more – as a big fan of the movies I might finally attempt to finish Lord of the Rings!
- Drink less
- Buy a bike and start cycling to work
- Get a couple of family holidays booked ASAP!
James
What have you been up to over Christmas and New Year?
“Getting up to some arts and crafts, going on some wintery walks, and spending time with an ever-expanding family. Excited for our New Year trips: sun-seeking in Portugal, then returning to some of Britain’s best offerings with a stay in the Lake District first and then onwards to Edinburgh!”
Goals for 2026:
- Drink more, move less, un-learn a skill… (am I doing this right?)
- Seriously though – get off my phone more and find ways to become more analogue.
- Consistently spend one night a week working on a self-initiated project.
Winston
What’s this season brought you?
“I’ve been gorging myself on meats and cheeses, so that I’ll remember how great food is before I go on health kick in the new year… I’ve done zero home decorating as we’ve been doing it all year in the run-up to Christmas, so that’s been nice! Most importantly, I’ve been sleeping a lot.”
Goals:
- Get healthier (maybe…)
- Learn Blender!
- Finish renovating my house.
Alex
What’s Christmas held for you?
“I spent most of December in South Wales with family after having surgery, so my time off has been a bit earlier than usual this year! However, I did find time to get stuck into Pokemon on the new Switch 2 that Santa kindly delivered, built a tiny wooden Chinese street-style book-nook, saw the Christmas lights around the village, and did my traditional beach visit (an essential part of every visit home!). Then I travelled back North to see the New Year in with my partner and cats.”
Goals:
- Get back to karate lessons before the summer.
- Complete my first Mandarin language course by April.
- Visit China again ASAP to see more of Zhou Shen’s concerts!
